      <image:title>Landscapes and Flowers - Peonies</image:title>
<image:caption>These peonies caught my eye on the cover of a catalogue. As I often do, I tore off the page and stashed it in a wicker basket of other such ideas for paintings. I had just started to paint with oils again, after a bad experience with fumes from turpentine. I decided to use this picture to start my journey with oils and I’m now hooked! I never realized just how many shades of white were needed to give these wonderful flowers the depth they deserved. Oil painting. 24X24.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Landscapes and Flowers - Landscape</image:title>
<image:caption>Over the years, I have taken many landscape classes at Silvermine Art Guild with David Dunlop, and more recently, with William McCarthy. This was my second painting while working with Will. He is such a wonderful teacher and an inspiration to his students. He literally paints from memory and a few thumbnail sketches. The technique involves using Liquin and only large brushes from the hardware store! This oil painting can be seen in the home of Helen and Muscie Garnett in Richmond, VA. <image:caption>Ah, don't get me started on Bailey. She is a wonderful small beagle with a very large attitude. She belongs to my daughter Betsy, but during Betsy's college and Prague years, Bailey spent a lot of time with Grandma. When she lived with me, she especially liked the top of the dining room table, where she could easily multi-task by watching chipmunks and eating leftovers simultaneously. She also loved to be chased around the house and yard just when I had a train to catch.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Pet Portraits - My Bad Girls</image:title>
<image:caption>Where do I start? At one point we had three female dogs, Maggie a rescue Springer Spaniel, Biscuit a very large and not especially smart Springer Spaniel, and one of Biscuit's daughters--Chessie. Chessie's father was Gus, a yellow lab, and Biscuit, after a hot date with Gus, produced 10 all-black puppies. Go figure. This painting depicts the three dogs with all the objects they consumed over the years--Mont Blanc pens, eye glasses, remote controls, shoes, toys, etc. The note reads: Dear Stuart-- Sorry we ate your stuff. If you fed us more better real food, we'd behave. Maybe. Thoughtfully, your girls</image:caption>

      <image:title>Pet Portraits - What's a Girl to Do?</image:title>
<image:caption>Miss Crockett is our pudle that we adopted from Adopt-A-Lab. Yes, you read that right. There is some confusion about her pedigree, but the rescuers thoughtfully narrowed it down when they noted that she is probably "some mix of dog and poodle." Crockett joined us the end of October 2012 and has been my constant companion ever since. She is covered with ribbons and a small tag reading" All dressed up; nowhere to go," hence the title, What's a Girl to Do?</image:caption>

      <image:title>Pet Portraits - Chessie Girl</image:title>
<image:caption>My Chessie Girl left us in 2010 at age 14. I still miss her today. She, like her Mom, had a fetish for shoes--usually the left one, and would leave the other hidden under a bed, in the yard or in the closet. It took me almost a year to be able to memorialize her, but this portrait makes me feel a little better that it really was time for her to "go home" as they say in the South.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Home - Life Portraits</image:title>
<image:caption>This painting is one of my favorites. It incorporates humor, whimsy and paradox to portray my own self portrait through my shoes. When I commuted to Wall Street for 15 years, I would amuse myself by looking first at a passenger's shoes on the subway. I would then try to paint a picture of this person in my mind before looking at the face. I selected this to showcase my Life Portraits. These are paintings where I depict someone through objects such as shoes, ties, eye glasses, etc.</image:caption>

<image:caption>If you click on the tab titled "Animals," you will see several examples of my animal paintings. As with most of my work, these include some element of humor or paradox. These cows were painted from a photograph I took while visiting friends in Belgium. The ear tags are actually the birthdates of friends. I carefully assigned the dates based on personalities.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Home - Pet Portraits</image:title>
<image:caption>My Pet Portraits are really a hallmark of my work. Painting a pet in human terms, I prefer to meet and get to know my subjects. Otherwise, it is difficult to translate attitude and personality into a painted form. This happens to be a portrait of my dog, Crockett. She is a rescue from Adopt-A-Lab in Indiana. As you can see, she's not a lab at all. She's a Skodap or "some kind of dog and poodle." I painted her with lots of colorful ribbons and a tag saying: "All Dressed Up; Nowhere to Go." What's a girl to do? Amuse yourself by touring my Pet Portraits. Perhaps your pet would like one?</image:caption>

<image:caption>Probably my most favorite painting--a self portrait expressed through my shoes. When I commuted to Wall Street, I used to play a game on the subway, generally not a fun place to be. I would start by looking at the shoes of the other passengers and I would create an image of what they did for a living and what they looked like from the feet up. Only after I had that mental image did I allow myself to look at the whole person. So, here you have a collection of my shoes, showing the many faces of Stuart!</image:caption>

<image:title>Life Portraits - Junk Yard Dog Marries Party Poodle</image:title>
<image:caption>I painted this whimsical painting to honor my marriage to Chip in July 2010. He refers to himself as a junk yard dog--a serial entrepreneur who has had a range of businesses from geraniums to alcohol, with greenhouses, tomato, farming grapes and hospital products thrown in for extra credit. On the other hand, Chip refers to me as the "party poodle"-- a sophisticated dog with careers at American Express, Merrill Lynch and Accenture. And now, I am an artist. That must make me an Eccentric Party Poodle!</image:caption>

      <image:title>Life Portraits - The Birthday Party</image:title>
<image:caption>I painted this in honor of my 50th birthday. Along with my dogs Smithfield and Maggie (Magnolia), I have my friend Wheatie's dog, Chamois, and the neighbor's Jack Russell, Piper. Yes, there is also a Bulldog because no party is complete without one, along with presents and a game of "Pin the Tail on the Postman." This painting led to my career as a pet portrait artist, and a display of my work at a store on Greenwich Avenue called Dog Days.</image:caption>

The flowers are from the opening of his tasting room and distillery, Mile High Spirits in Denver, CO. His products are on the shelf in the back. Yeah, Wyn!
