I rarely sell my animal paintings unless one has been a commission. Why? Because when I paint animals, I feel that I have become that cow or pig or lion or sheep. By the time I'm finished with an animal painting, selling it would be giving up a part of myself. As luck would have it, I am running out of wall space. Oh well, perhaps I should move to a farm.

Moo-dunit?
This oil painting was inspired by cows from Brussels. I was visiting good friends who live outside of Brussels and we were walking past a farm when I saw these beauties. The ear tags actually display the birthdays of good friends and, of course, 32651 happens to be mine.
Designer Pigs
The famous designer Mario Buatta inspired me to paint these two yummy pigs, basking in cabbage. If this were fabric, it would be chintz, naturally.
Dolly and Friends
I painted this after a long hiatus. It was cold and snowy and I had just completed a week-long class at The Finishing School (can you believe that is actually the name?) on Long Island. I had been studying the art of painted surfaces such as faux wood so I'm practicing my new-found knot-drawing skills here.
It was also the same time that Dolly, the first cloned sheep was in the news.
Mala Mala Morning
You can imagine that visiting Africa was like being a kid in a candy shop for me. I photographed this lion cub in Mala Mala and painted her later as a memento of my wonderful trip.
Friends In Formals
This was a commission for the family room of friends and family in Baltimore, MD. The lion may sleep tonight, but that's not stopping all the other creatures from stepping out in their finery.
The Epicureans
A roadside picnic with animals munching on their favorites. Must have stopped at McDonalds en route back to the farm.
Will You Be Mine?
An unusual gathering of friends waiting to wish you Happy Valentine's Day.
Watson's
This mural was done for Watson's, a local caterer's take-out deli. Sunday in the park with these piggies sure looks like fun to me.
